Carle Auditory Oral School is approved by the state of Illinois as a non-public special education program. As a result, through the IEP process, when a school determines that CAOS would be the least restrictive environment and support the child and family’s desired outcome, they can place a child who is deaf and hard of hearing at CAOS, providing funding for tuition and transportation costs. Alternatively, parents can choose to pay the tuition so their child can attend Carle Auditory Oral School. Tuition for children who are deaf and hard of hearing is determined using our sliding scale based on income and family size. Additionally, Carle Auditory Oral School accesses private and public insurance to offset costs of schooling. No child with educationally significant hearing loss will be turned away based on inability to pay school tuition.
Families are also encouraged to apply for grants and scholarships to further reduce tuition charges. Please contact the school director (email caos@carle.com) to learn more about costs associated with attending Carle Auditory Oral School.
Tuition Express automatic deductions are scheduled on a bi-weekly basis unless other arrangements are made with the school office. A 10% discount is available for Carle employees. There is a 10% sibling discount as well.
